AI assistants

HiLMS can ask a language model to draft material for you. It writes for you and never into a course: everything it produces waits on a review page until you read it, edit it and apply it yourself.

The assistants are off until an administrator turns them on and gives HiLMS a provider and a key.

Turning them on

Settings → AI assistants (Ustawienia → Asystenci AI), administrators only.

Asystenci

Field	Means
Udostępnij asystentów	Off, and no assistant appears anywhere and nothing is sent to any provider
Miesięczny budżet tokenów	Input plus output tokens a calendar month may spend. Zero means no limit. When it runs out, a new request is refused with a message saying so. Input the provider read from its prompt cache, which it charges far less for, is not counted
Przechowuj generowania przez (dni)	How long a finished request is kept before it is deleted, prompt, answer and all. 30 days by default
Preferowane okno, od / do	Optional. Requests made outside this window wait for the next start of it, which is how you keep the work to cheap hours. These two are in UTC, and say so, because a background worker applies them with nobody present — every other time in the panel is on your own clock (The panel)

Dostawca

Field	Means
Dostawca	Anthropic, DeepSeek, Google Gemini, Groq, Mistral, Ollama, OpenAI, an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, OpenRouter or xAI. Azure OpenAI and Amazon Bedrock are offered only where the server already has them configured, because they need more than a key
Model	The model identifier from the provider’s own documentation, for example deepseek-flash
Klucz API	Stored encrypted and never shown again. Leave it blank to keep the one you have, type a new one to replace it, or tick Usuń zapisany klucz and save to remove it. Blank falls back to whatever the server was configured with
Adres bazowy	Only for a proxy or your own server. Blank means the provider’s own address

Sprawdź połączenie (in the page header) sends one tiny prompt and tells you which model answered, how long it took and how many tokens it cost. Use it after every change.

Each one sits beside the field it writes, as a small sparkles icon.

Every assistant writes in the language of the course, whichever language you asked in: the request tells the model which language the course is written in, because a few words of notes are not enough to guess from. Write a lesson in the English copy of a course and the draft comes back in English.

Asking

Clicking an icon opens a modal:

• Szkic z notatek asks for Twoje notatki — bullet points, an outline, pasted material, anything. It also asks what to do with the result: add it after the blocks the lesson already has, or replace the whole lesson.
• Ułóż pytania quizu asks how many questions, from three to ten. Each one is answerable from the lesson alone.
• Napisz podsumowanie asks nothing: it works from the course as it stands.
• Napisz opis asks for optional notes — who the course is for, what somebody needs to know first, what they leave with. Empty is fine; then it uses the outline and the summary alone.

Every modal also has Uruchom o: leave it empty to run as soon as a worker is free, or name a time. The field says which clock it is in, which is your own; if a preferred window is configured, the field says that too.

Press Poproś asystenta. You are told it has been queued, and you go on with your work.

Reviewing

When the answer is ready, the bell in the panel’s top bar tells you, with a Przejrzyj link. Everything also appears under AI generations (Generowania AI), in the main navigation.

The list shows the assistant, what it was about (linked to the lesson or course it belongs to), who asked, the status, the tokens it cost, the model, when it runs and when it finished. Filter by assistant or status.

The review page

The answer is shown as an editable form, not as a wall of text:

• a lesson draft appears as blocks you can rewrite, reorder and delete;
• a quiz appears in the quiz editor, with its pass mark and its questions;
• a summary appears as a counted text box;
• a description appears in the rich editor.

What you apply is what is on that page, not what the model originally said. Fix the wording first.

Then:

• Zastosuj writes it into the lesson or the course and asks you to confirm. On a lesson draft in replace mode it warns that the existing blocks will go. The files those blocks showed stay in the media library, no longer shown by this lesson.
• Odrzuć ends it without writing anything.
• Otwórz oryginał opens the lesson or course it belongs to.

Once applied or discarded, a request cannot be applied again, so a stale tab cannot write the same draft twice.

What is sent, and what is not

Only what the table above lists, and only when you ask:

• a lesson draft sends the lesson title and your notes;
• a quiz sends the text of that one lesson, up to about 8000 characters;
• a summary or description sends the course outline, up to about 6000 characters.

No student ever appears in a prompt, and the whole course is never sent for a single lesson. The prompt and the answer are kept with the request and deleted after the retention period.

Costs

A provider charges for every call, so HiLMS tries not to make unnecessary ones:

• a request that fails is not retried — you ask again if you want to;
• each assistant has a cap on how long an answer may be;
• the monthly budget is checked when you ask and again before the provider is called;
• what is sent is always capped.

The tokens each request cost are on the list, so you can see where the month has gone. In practice a course description costs well under a cent on a cheap model.

When something goes wrong

The request is marked Nieudane and the reason is on its page. The common ones:

“Asystent nie odpowiedział niczym, co mogłoby stać się treścią lekcji.”	The answer was empty or unusable. Nothing was written

Nothing is ever half-written: a failed request leaves the lesson or the course exactly as it was.
